OPEN HOURS APPOINTMENTS

We’ve made a lot of changes in accordance with Covid-19 safety guidelines and one of our biggest changes is that we will be offering our open hours services through appointments or through remote services.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we have switched to

We're closed for the semester!

IF YOU ARE UIUC FACULTY, STAFF, OR STUDENT

For the safety of our students and the classes we are holding in the building this semester, we are limiting visitors to only UIUC faculty, staff, students, and extra help who are adhering to the Covid-19 testing policies.

IF YOU ARE A COMMUNITY MEMBER OR NON-UIUC VISITOR

At this time, we are unfortunately unable to permit community members in the lab. However, we can still offer you some access to lab tools through our new offering of remote services.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
  • Only the individual the appointment is for may be allowed to enter the building.
    • Please do not bring in additional persons, such as friends, spouses, children, etc. If you are doing a partner project, all individuals must be UIUC students/faculty/staff and they must submit their own appointment.

  • Appointment hours have been extended
    •  We’re doing this in order to accommodate the limitations on the number of people that can be present in the building at the same time.

  • Appointments have pre-set time slots to select from for each tool.
    •  If you need additional time for your project, you may sign up for additional consecutive slots if they are available.
    • Please be aware that some tools are slower than others. If you are running a larger file, we encourage you to plan your time accordingly when making your appointment.
    • Laser files with large amounts of etching may need more than one appointment slot to complete.

  • Fab Lab Staff reserve the right to end your in progress file if it exceeds you designated appointment time for that tool.
WHAT TO KNOW WHEN VISITING
  • Face masks are REQUIRED to be PROPERLY worn at all times while in the building.

  • Check in for your appointment with staff when you arrive.

  • We will verify your building entry pass through the Safer Illinois app, icard Boarding Pass, or other approved method of UIUC.
    • If you do not have GRANTED status for entry you will not be allowed in the building. *Per UIUC campus policy and subject to change

  • Once you’re cleared to enter the building you may use the tool that you’ve signed up for for the duration of time allotted to you.
    • If you need additional time for your project, you may sign up for additional consecutive slots if they are available.
    • If others have reserved a place after you, you will need to end your use of the area at the end of your designated time and schedule another time slot.

  • Once you are done with the area, please tidy what you can.

  • When you leave, please check out/ pay for your machine use/materials or let us know you are done. This will let us know you’re finished with the area and we can disinfect for the next individual’s use.
